Vorbeck to Exhibit Vor-x Graphene Material at ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit

Vorbeck announced today its selection for the prestigious Technology Showcase at the ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit, hosted by the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) and the Clean Technology and Sustainable Industries Organization (CTSI).

Vorbeck was selected from hundreds of top technology companies to participate in the Summit, which will highlight America’s most promising prospects for cutting-edge developments in energy innovation.

As one of ARPA-E’s participating organizations, Vorbeck will exhibit the potential of its patented Vor-x™ graphene material to revolutionize the Li-ion battery industry. Working with Pacific Northwest National Labs (PNNL) and Princeton University, Vorbeck has demonstrated the potential of high-quality graphene to dramatically improve the power and cycling stability of Li-ion batteries, enabling next generation batteries for electric cars, power tools, and other applications.

Teams from 14 Corporate Acceleration Partners committed to technology commercialization will also be present at the Summit including Dow, Bosch, Applied Materials and Lockheed Martin. Vorbeck was the first company to commercialize a product based on graphene. Vorbeck recently closed a successful financing round to allow the company to rapidly bring additional graphene products to market. In 2010, Vorbeck signed an agreement with materials distribution and supply company, Targray Technology International, to market Vorbeck’s novel battery electrode materials. Vorbeck Materials is the first and only company to receive EPA approval for the commercial production and sale of graphene-based products.

The second annual ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit will take place February 28 - March 2, 2011 at the Gaylord Convention Center just outside Washington, D.C.
