Vorbeck Materials Secures Fund to Expand Sales of Graphene-Based Vor-ink for Printed Electronics

Vorbeck Materials has declared that it has wrapped up a completely subscribed series 3 funding with a total amount of $10 million. The funding was completed on 9 December 2011. Fairbridge Venture Partners and Black Powder were the companies which led the funding that also comprised 15 more investors.

Graphene-based conductive ink, Vor-ink

Vorbeck utilizes Vor-x, its patented graphene material technology created at Princeton University, to deliver breakthrough products for a broad array of industries ranging from aerospace to consumer goods. The company is a major producer of superior quality single sheet graphene material. Vorbeck is the first and only firm to get an approval from the US Environmental Protection Agency for the commercial production and marketing of products based on graphene. Vorbeck will utilize the funding to extend the sales of its graphene-based conductive ink called Vor-ink for printed electronics. Vor-ink, the first graphene-based commercial product in the world, finds new high-volume applications in flexible and highly conductive electronics used for aerospace, building infrastructure, medical diagnostics and security.

Most recently, Vorbeck and packaging company, MeadWestvaco had received Product Development Award in printed electronics from IDTechEx for their effort in designing a device called the Siren, an anti-theft packaging technology that integrates Vor-ink circuitry. Packages utilizing the Siren device are now available from major retailers.
