Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd. announced today that it has appointed Dr Andy Goodwin as Commercial Director for its Advanced Materials Division. Dr Goodwin will join Thomas Swan on 20th August this year and will be based at the company’s headquarters in Consett, UK.
Dr Goodwin joins Thomas Swan from Dow Corning Corporation where he recently held the position of Global Science & Technology Manager - Solar Materials in the USA. He started working for Dow Corning in 1989 as an Analytical Scientist based in Barry, UK and subsequently held the positions of Corporate R&D Leader (Barry), Managing Director - Dow Corning Plasma Solutions (Ireland) and Business Builder - Business & Technology Incubator for Solar & Energy (Midland, USA).
His initial focus will be the growth of the carbon nanomaterials business, including the Elicarb® carbon nanotube and graphene products, but he will also be responsible for the identification and development of new advanced material opportunities for the company.
Commenting on the appointment Harry Swan, Managing Director of Thomas Swan said: "Andy will be joining us at an exciting time for Thomas Swan as we look to grow our carbon nanomaterials business, integrate and scale-up our graphene product in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin and identify new advanced material opportunities in the composites, energy and water sectors."
