Cadence Improves Efficiency and Predictability of Advanced Node Devices

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), the leader in global electronic design innovation, today announced that Shanghai Huahong Integrated Circuits Company Ltd. (SHHIC), a leading Chinese fabless semiconductor company, has adopted a broad range of Cadence® solutions and services for the design of advanced chips targeting China's fast-growing electronics market. The adoption was based on the strength of Cadence technology, including design for manufacturing (DFM), low-power and analog/RF offerings, as well as the strength of Cadence technical support services.

SHHIC now gains access to a broad range of Cadence products and solutions, including Cadence Incisive® functional verification, Encounter® digital IC design, Virtuoso® custom design, Allegro® silicon-package-board co-design and DFM technologies to design, verify and implement advanced low-power and mixed-signal chips and systems for targeted application markets in China. SHHIC has also adopted the Open Verification Methodology (OVM) as a framework for advanced chip verification. In addition, Cadence will provide education and design services to SHHIC to speed technology adoption and improve design efficiency.

“The complexities of device design at 90 nanometers and beyond demand new classes of tools and flows,” said Xinhua Ji, R&D senior director at SHHIC. “The integrated end-to-end solutions, methodologies and services provided by Cadence are critical to ensure design predictability and efficiency for next-generation chip designs, such as multimedia SoCs, in the highly competitive Chinese semiconductor market.”

“Cadence is pleased to help SHHIC solve its next generation of design and manufacturing challenges,” said James Liu, Cadence general manager of sales for China and Hong Kong. “It demonstrates again our commitment to advancing China's design capabilities with leading technology solutions and services in low-power, mixed-signal and advanced node designs.”

SHHIC was founded in 1998 and is a leading fabless design company in the mass transportation, personal identity, e-passport, Mobile Payment, social security, information security and multimedia markets in China.
