The Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland has purchased magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers from the global measurement company, Agilent Technologies. The major sale was valued at $6 million.
The new NMR and MRI systems will be deployed in the university’s new NanoBioMedical Centre. The instruments will aid in advancing research and also in training aspiring nanoscientists. The centre supports the university’s doctoral and masters research programs in nanotechnology and nanoscience.
Agilent has sold a number of NMR systems at 800 MHz, 600 MHz and 400 MHz to the university. The deal also includes Agilent’s 9.4 Tesla MRI system. During in vivo visualization of biological processes and structures, the 9.4 Tesla MRI magnet allows greater sensitivity and resolution.
The NMR and MRI systems will have Agilent’s new Direct Drive 2 console for supporting a range of NMR and MRI applications. It would improve the performance of electronics and increase amplitude, resolution and speed.
The Vice President of Agilent Technologies, Life Sciences Group EMEAI, Frederic Laget announced that the collaboration with university in supporting research efforts was a positive advancement in the company’s European expansion of magnetic resonance systems market.
