Heidelberg Instruments Receives Order for DWL 2000 Laser Lithography System from Heptagon

Heptagon has placed an order for a sophisticated DWL 2000 system with advanced Gray Scale Exposure capability from Heidelberg Instruments, a designer, developer and manufacturer of maskless lithography systems.

Heptagon will use the DWL 2000 system to produce micro optical components for use in supercomputers, telecom equipment, gaming consoles, mobile devices, and smart phones.

Heidelberg Instruments’ Head of Global Sales and Business Development, Alexander Forozan stated that Gray Scale lithography technology is capable of creating intricate, random, and evenly or discontinuously contoured material surfaces for a myriad of applications in high-tech optical systems. Gray Scale lithography was deployed by the company in its maskless lithography systems more than a decade ago and over the years the technology has been improved by the company for use in its commercial based systems. This order is a major progress to reinforce the company’s dominance in direct write system production for use in Gray Scale Lithography.

Singapore-based Heptagon designs and produces cutting-edge micro-optics solutions. The company operates a research and development center in Zurich, Switzerland. With roughly 20 years of expertise in wafer level micro optics, the company specializes in large-scale production of small optical components for advanced applications in supercomputers, telecom equipment, gaming consoles, mobile devices, and smart phones.

Heidelberg Instruments’ systems are utilized by some of the key industry leaders and universities for direct writing and photomask fabrication in the fields of micro optics, plasma displays, TFT, ASICS, nanotechnology, bioMEMS, MEMS and much more.
