Report on the Chinese and Global Photovoltaic Industry

Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "China and Global Photovoltaic Industry Research 2008" report to their offering.

Over the past 8 years, the growth capacity of the world's solar power system has increased profoundly, from 345 MW in 2001 to 2826 MW in 2007. The compound annual growth rate was 42%; in 2007 the global solar energy industry output value reached $17.2 billion and the production capacity of solar cell had risen from 2204MW in 2006 to 3436MW in 2007, an increase of 56 per cent year-on-year.

The average annual growth rate of China's photovoltaic industry was 49.5% in the last 5 year and the annual growth rate of 2007 was 56.2%, became the world's biggest producer of solar products, accounting for 26.6 per cent of global production. In 2007 there were 6 Chinese solar cell companies in the world's top 16 solar cell companies list.

According to China's Association of Solar Energy's data in 2007 the output of China's solar cell was 1180 MW and Europe, Japan and the United States were 1062,920 and 266 MW respectively, China has become the world's largest solar cells producer. But, however, the development of China's solar power market is relatively slow; in 2007 the total installed capacity was 100,000 kilowatts, accounting for less than 1% of the world total.

In accordance with the current national plan, by 2010 China's photovoltaic power generation capacity will reach a total installed capacity of 300 MW, by 2020 will reach 1.8 GW and by 2050 will reach 100 GW. In accordance with the Chinese Academy of Sciences report that by 2050, in China the electricity installed capacity of renewable energy resource will account for 25 % of the total electric power installed capacity, among photovoltaic power generation capacity will account for 5%.

According to some companies' data, we forecast that the production growth of Chinese overseas listing solar cell companies will reach 100% in 2008 and next year due to the supply of polysilicon materials would be balanced, the gross profit rate of solar cell manufacturers will be increased.
