In 2016, the RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION CENTER OF INNOVATION "KB-GROUP" was opened. A team of Russian and Japanese scientists work in the field of smart nanocoatings. Numerous studies are being carried out, including with the use of nanodiamonds. New, unparalleled materials have been created, know-how technologies have been developed, and a production base for unique equipment has been formed. In 2016, a production facility was established at KB-GROUP for the production of protective nanocoatings. The company's portfolio of in-house developments comprises dozens of innovative solutions for the protection of various surfaces with tribological, strengthening, oleophobic and hydrophobic effects. Some of these new materials are available under the MOTOBOR brand. One of the major successes of the company was an invention that has no analogues in the enrichment of nanodiamonds. This opens up previously inaccessible possibilities for the protection of various surfaces. The company is actively developing in the field of the latest technologies, enrichment of nanodiamonds, the creation of new materials based on it, anti-fouling coatings, the creation of nanomembrane materials using nanotubes, molecular distillation, etc.
ABOUT NANO-DIAMONDS
Diamond is the hardest material. It has the maximum reference hardness. The addition of enriched nanodiamond structures (clusters) to a substance makes it record-breaking strong and hydrophobic. On the other hand, it is important to remember that nanodiamond clusters do not make the substance itself a diamond. Studies of the effect of nanodiamonds on the structure of substances have been conducted since the times of the USSR, and the scientific school of nanodiamonds in Russia is one of the "strongest" in the world. In practice, it has been proven that the introduction of nanodiamonds into the structure of substances increases their characteristics from 10% to 200% or more:
- Decreases surface tension
- Increases tensile strength
- Increases compressive strength
- Increases chemical resistance
- Increases thermal conductivity
HOW IT WORKS?
Nanodiamonds create clusters (3d clusters or matrices) by modifying the original substance. In addition, nanodiamonds are hydrophilic, but with special treatment they impart hydrophobic and oleophobic properties to the surface without loss of strength. Each of the "MOTOBOR" compositions uses different nanodiamonds in size and enrichment, because in each case, they play a different role: they strengthen, reinforce, work as a polishing abrasive, structure, impart hydrophobicity, etc. KB-Group composites are recognized by the largest European car manufacturers. The line of nano-diamond protective coatings of the "Atlantic" series, specially developed for water transport, has been successfully tested by boat and yacht manufacturers from Russia, the USA and Europe, showing very impressive results.
