Fluorescence Microscopes

Fluorescence microscopy uses fluorescent labels or dyes to augment the images normally obtained by optical microscopy. Fluorescence images can achieve a higher resolution than conventional reflection or transmission of light. Fluorescent nanoparticles, including polymer nanoparticles, quantum dots (semiconductor nanoparticles) and metal nanoparticles such as gold, have been shown to exhibit useful properties as novel fluorescent dyes, including improved biostability.
