Second Annual Nano Renewable Energy Summit Conference Program Announced

The NanoBusiness Alliance, the industry association for the emerging nanotechnology industry, and the Colorado Nanotechnology Alliance, a non-profit association that represents the Colorado nanotechnology community, today announced its conference program schedule for the 2nd annual Nano Renewable Energy Summit, which will return to the University of Denver, CO, from June 22 - 23, 2009.

The Nano Renewable Energy Summit is a gathering of world-renowned experts at the intersection of renewable energy and nanotechnology, with a specific focus on the business, commercialization, and economic development potential of emerging technologies in the renewable energy and sustainability sectors.

"We have assembled a stellar list of speakers, who will be addressing important strategies and technologies in the area of nano-enabled renewable energy" said Vincent Caprio, NanoBusiness Alliance Vice President and Event Director. "However, the event has not been designed as a purely educational forum, but rather, the presentations are intended as a starting point from which to begin a dialog with our conference attendees."

Highlights of the conference include:

  • The View from the Federal Government – Alicia Jackson, Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee; Roland Hulstrom, Deputy Director, National Center for Photovoltaics, NREL
  • Energy, Water & the Environment – Mark Modzelewski, Executive Director, Water Innovations Alliance; Erik Fisher, Assistant Research Director, Center for Nanotechnology, Dr. Gary Carlson, CTO, MemPro Ceramics Corp.
  • Solar Cells and Nanotechnology: A Collision Course in the Patent Area – Dr. M. Henry Heines, Partner, Townsend
  • Nano-Energy K-20 Educational Needs – Dean Rahmat Shoureshi, University of Denver School of Engineering and Computer Science
  • Inkjet as a Digital Fabrication Process for Photovoltaic Applications – John Spiers, VP Business Development, iTi Solar

The Nano Renewable Energy Summit is presented in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Golden, Colorado based National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
