Nanocyl announced today
it has reached an agreement with 3B-Fibreglass for the joint development of
innovative CNT glass fibres for the growing thermoplastic and structural composite
markets.
In the agreement, 3B-Fibreglass, one of the leading manufacturers of fibreglass
products for the reinforcement of thermoplastics and thermosets, is producing
glass fibres which have sizing integrated with SIZICYL, Nanocyl's versatile
CNT-sizing agent. SIZICYL is designed to improve the mechanical and electrical
properties of composite materials.
The new CNT glass fibers will provide both the electrical conductivity and
the improved shear, impact and de-lamination properties OEMs must have for developing
the next generation of composite materials, such as 100% recyclable automobile
parts and the blades used in wind turbines.
"We look forward to creating an exciting new technology with 3B,"
said Francis Massin, Chief Executive Officer of Nanocyl. "3B is a dynamic
company, and has a unique technical expertise in developing fibreglass reinforcement
products that are truly innovative."
"Nanocyl leads the CNT industry with the most conductive carbon nanotubes,"
said Hugues Jacquemin, Chief Executive Officer of 3B. "We believe the new
CNT glass fibres will help OEMs produce new composite materials that perform
better at a lower total cost."
