NanoBusiness Commercialization Association Selects NanoMech for 2012 Innovator of the Year Award

NanoMech, a global supplier of advanced engineering materials produced by leveraging nanotechnology, has been chosen for the 2012 Innovator of the Year award by trade organization, NanoBusiness Commercialization Association (NanoBCA).

NanoMech TuffTek

Established in 2002, NanoMech has pioneered patented and patent pending nanotechnology-based products in the field of energy and lubrication, manufacturing, machining and defense.

Jim Phillips, Chairman and CEO of NanoMech attributed the honor conferred upon the company and its employees to the innovations engineered by them namely, TuffTek, nGlide and TriboTuff. He further stated that the company is focused on bringing dramatic change into existing markets by applying advanced technology to the products deemed as “must-have”.

Dr. Ajay P. Malshe, NanoMech CTO, spoke about the two nanobased product platforms conceived by NanoMech in 2012. The TriboTuff is an industrial lubricant that reduces wear and tear in vehicles, machines, gears and valves as it can reduce friction to practically zero. The frictionless performance of these products also results in significant energy savings. The second platform comprises the TuffTek coated wear parts and cutting tool inserts produced from ceramics, metals and carbides. With depletion of naturally occurring resources such as ceramics and metals, the nano-based coating solutions of TuffTek protect the surfaces of components produced from these natural resources, thereby increasing their lifespan in addition to improving their performance.

NanoBCA is the leading trade organization of the nano industry that is focused on endorsing improvement and commercialization of nanotechnology. Mr. Vincent Caprio, the CEO of NanoBCA, lauded NanoMech for applying their resources to produce market-ready products that have tremendous impact on the manufacturing and energy sectors and expressed pride in conferring the award to NanoMech.
