TeraVicta Technologies Announces MEMS Product Roadmap

TeraVicta Technologies has announced a product roadmap which extends the reach of this exciting new technology. Leveraging its proven switch technology, TeraVicta is introducing three new product lines: the first brings new switch configurations of the company's leading DC to 7GHz switch product line; the second extends the range to higher frequencies starting with a DC to 26.5GHz family; and the third sets a new low cost benchmark for MEMS switch technology, breaking the $8 level for modest volumes with a new DC to 2.5GHz line.

Each of the announced product lines will contain a number of derivative products which will make MEMS switch solutions attractive to a wider array of commercial applications. The portfolio will enable TeraVicta MEMS switches to be used in applications ranging from the most specialized high-performance test, measurement and communications equipment, to some of the most price- sensitive commercial applications requiring the superior RF and broadband performance associated with MEMS technology.

The new products are built on the foundation of a 7GHz switch that has been in production since early 2006. The patent-protected design and process used to build TeraVicta MEMS switches has been developed to enable rapid development of derivative products based on a proven technology. The high levels of quality and reliability associated with TeraVicta MEMS switches are leveraged in these new product families and as a result, the company plans to introduce several new products in 2007.

"TeraVicta switch technology is used by some of the most renowned companies in the electronics equipment world. Applications range from high performance phased array antennas and measurement equipment to high volume, price sensitive areas such as automatic test equipment and next generation wireless connectivity," said Ray Burgess, President and CEO of TeraVicta. "Working with our customers, we have now created a portfolio that will address their requirement to drive the use of MEMS switch technology further into their product ranges. All of our new products deliver the leadership MEMS switch attributes of high linearity, low insertion loss, and excellent repeatability in a small, easy to use, surface mount form factor. We are now bringing these attributes to high bandwidth applications, new customer required configurations and at price points consistent with high-volume commercial products."

"TeraVicta has combined their unique in house capabilities in processing and packaging to deliver reliable high-bandwidth switches based on MEMS technology," commented Keith Robinson, Industry Manager for Frost & Sullivan's Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Electronic Components research groups. "Creating derivatives from a well established baseline technology that address specific user requirements is a logical progression. The new configurations and aggressive price points position MEMS switch technology to compete very favorably with incumbent technologies such as relays and solid state switches. Users have waited a long time for a step improvement in performance and reliability and we expect that there will be a very positive reception to these products."
