The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering ("CNSE") of the University at Albany and the Tech Valley Global Business Network ("TVGBN") will provide a first-of-its-kind forum for Tech Valley businesses to meet trade representatives of foreign countries through a program with the New York City-based Foreign Trade Commissioners Association. Business executives will have the opportunity to discuss prospects for global trade and investment during the event on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at CNSE's Albany NanoTech Complex.
The event, sponsored by Empire State Development, will bring the region's leaders in business, economic development, academia and government together with foreign trade officials from the Foreign Trade Commissioners Association to network and exchange ideas for international business growth in Tech Valley.
A welcoming reception will be held from 5:30-6:30 pm, with a buffet dinner at 6:30 pm., in the rotunda of NanoFab North.
Foreign trade commissioners -- also known as consular officials, commercial attaches or commercial consuls -- promote trade and investment between the country they represent and the region they oversee in the United States; typically, a consulate in New York City is responsible for the northeastern and mid-Atlantic states.
In addition to the NanoCollege, the foreign trade commissioners will visit Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the New York State Capitol and the Executive Mansion, hosted by New York First Lady Michelle Paige Paterson.
