Ionotec is a research and development company serving a number of major clients in those areas of materials science which are related particularly to electrochemistry. We also manufacture ceramic materials, particularly ion-conductive ceramics which find application as membranes in electrochemical systems such as batteries, fuel cells, sensors and chemical converters. These include cation-conductive beta aluminas, oxide ion conductors, and electron-conductive ceramics including doped cerium, titanium and zirconium oxides.
A further area of materials development is in conductive coatings which is aimed more at electrodes for batteries or fuel cells. We have facilities for producing various types of ceramic coating using controlled deposition, hot pressing up to 1300°C, pressureless sintering up to 1700°C, and atmosphere-controlled surface film growth techniques up to 1100°C. That means that for a number of material combinations of interest we can find a viable way of producing good quality adherent coatings with specific electrical properties.
We also have facilities for machining ceramics and for bonding ceramic-to-ceramic, ceramic-to-metal and metal-to-metal combinations in various shapes and sizes.
