| During a lecture to MIT students President of Samsung Electronics, Hwang Chang-Gyu, predicted a massive jump in demand for memory semiconductors starting from next year. He felt that the use of NAND Flash Memory in digital cameras, digital televisions and mobile phones will shape the semiconductor markets of the future. Samsung Electronics has already begun mass producing 90 nano-level Flash memories and the development of 70 nano-level technology is complete. Samsung expects to have 50 nano Flash products developed within two to three years. Hwang predicted the next generation of semiconductors will combine the functions of many memory products into a single, highly complex chip. |
