| NASA has spoken of the potential of nanotechnology to help with homeland security as part of a forum at NASA’s Ames Research Center. The role of nanotechnology adoption at NASA includes the reduction of spacecraft weight and increases in capability. Derivatives of this work could be used in security devices such as microscopic sensors for chemical, biological and nuclear threats as well as nanomachines that counter these terrorist threats. The forum covered four panel discussions: Homeland Security Technology Needs, Homeland Security Nanotechnology R&D, Venture Capital and Government Funding, and Business Role and Market. |
