(BMV: KUO), hereinafter Grupo KUO, one of the pioneers in Mexican corporations
by establishing a subsidiary in the area of nanotechnology, announces the opening
of a plant operated by its subsidiary Macro-M, S.A. de C.V. (Macro-M) in Lerma,
State of Mexico, which will consolidate its position in the nanotechnology business.
The nanostructured additive synthesis plant opened today has a production
capacity of 250 metric tones annually, it is the result of 10 years of investment
in research and it is also the source of 5 international patents (pending).
The plant uses a process developed at the Grupo KUO Research and Development
Center that is unparalleled worldwide. The additives produced at this facility
are used in multiple applications that range from a PET recycling chain extender
to additives used in the surface treatment of nanomaterials.
Macro-M, Grupo KUO's new business currently has three product lines:
a) additives for polymers, b) plastic compounds based on nanomaterials and c)
nanomaterials with special properties, such as controlled release.
"The demand in diverse non-traditional markets of the industry of the
future
increasingly requires high-performing products that are environment friendly
and capable of being placed within the cycle of renewable, recyclable and
green energies," said Fernando Senderos, Chairman of the Grupo KUO
Board of Directors. In order to attend to this need, Grupo KUO created a
new subsidiary whose plant was opened today, which is focused on the
design and production of advanced nanotechnology-based materials for
product application in a wide range of industries, such as household
appliances and including aerospace, construction, textile, packaging,
recycling and automotive products.
Macro-M also uses its own technology for the production of its plastic
nanocompounds and nanomaterials and it helps other companies create
products that are stronger, lighter and more efficient in terms of cost
performance.
