The "German Area" stand hosts a successful presentation of German
nanotechnology at the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) 2009 in Shanghai
China is a future contender in the area of nanotechnology thanks to its large
domestic market, growing economic power and scientific expertise. With one-fifth
of the world’s population, steady economic growth and large numbers of
scientific and engineering graduates, China is positioned to become an attractive
partner in this field, both scientifically and economically.
The CIIF (China International Industry Fair), which takes place every November
in Shanghai at China’s largest trade fair venue, is one of the few industrial
fairs active throughout China and elsewhere in Asia. During this year’s
five-day fair, Chinese and international industry and research welcomed approximately
100,000 visitors to 2,000 stands over a total of 120,000 sq. m. of exhibition
space.
On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German
Area successfully presented German nanotechnology at the CIIF “Scientific
and Technological Show”. The German Area was developed by the VDI
Technology Centre in cooperation with the ITTC at Tsinghua University in
Beijing, which was responsible the advertising and organization in China.
