STIX Market Research Celebrates its Tenth Year in Business

STIX Market Research, an association of technology analysts, market researchers, and science writers, has celebrated its tenth year in business. Donald Saxman, co-founder and Vice President says, "STIX began operations in April 1999. With Y2K looming and the political and economic climate undergoing profound changes, this was a challenging time to begin a new business." At that time, the company's basic business model was defined. STIX would be a cooperative venture between independent non-fiction authors and business analysts that would share overhead, marketing, research tools, and a jointly maintained business and technology database. Mr. Saxman continued, "If we'd known what was in store for us, we might have taken a different approach. As it turned out, our model has prospered and been profitable from the first year. Now, the business environment looks even more challenging. Our response -- our 2009 business plan -- was to expand."

Starting in January 2009, STIX redesigned the company's web page, increased the number of third party relationships, added a blog, and increased the number of associates. Anna Crull, STIX's co-founder and president says, "In fact, we are actively looking for new associates to prepare market research reports. STIX will provide topic and organization assistance, proof reading, and marketing assistance. The completed reports can be sold through our web site or using our network of third party resellers." Ms. Crull added, "We're looking for non-fiction authors -- established or novice -- who can conduct market research, literature and patent analysis, create company profiles, and most important, get their results down on paper. We have already established a proven business model, research tools, and have mentors. All we're asking for is a basic understanding of at least one business or technology discipline and a time commitment. Our associates include part time and full time market analysts -- even analysts employed by other publishers who want to try a new approach."

"We are also looking for customers," concluded Ms. Crull. "STIX has a line-up of existing reports on fuel cells, battery chargers, music downloads, and others and there are exciting reports in the works too, including an update of our combinational drugs analysis and several regional technology studies"

"STIX continues to provide custom single client analysis and business consulting" says Mr. Saxman. "The market analysis report business is well-established and there are thousands of market reports and market predictions produced annually in the U.S. Unfortunately, late 2008 economics took most authors by surprise. Many of the analyses and most of the predictions published prior to FQ4 2008 did not take into account a global recession, collapse of the credit market, decline in commodity and specialty material prices, or plummeting energy prices. Companies who use reliable business intelligence and valid market predictions are scrambling to revise their assumptions -- or they should be." STIX specializes in fast, accurate custom market research and multi-scenario predictions. "Clients who are used to steady, even remarkable market growth don't want to see a period of declining unit sales and falling value. When that is the situation, this is just the kind of intelligence that they need." STIX can fill that need and will respond to requests for proposals or prepare introductory briefing packages on a variety of topics.

STIX uses a combination of primary and secondary research methods as needed. "Our methodology relies on an experienced team, a structured research technique, and access to proprietary market modeling approaches and algorithms held in the STIX library and archives," says Ms. Crull. "For or custom research projects, we field an experienced team with more than fifty years of experience in comprehensive market/technology/industry analysis in a variety of areas. Each team member has an extensive academic background; broad industry experience; continuous involvement in the forefront of technology developments through hands-on work, professional and technical organizations; and continuous contacts with key multi-national companies that are in the forefront of bringing new products to market. In addition, the core team has access to an established network of subject matter experts (SMEs) in industry, government, and academia. These SMEs will be used to help validate project scope, as content sources, and to validate deliverable assumptions."

"Send us your RFPs," says Saxman. You'll be pleasantly surprised by what we can offer you in terms of methodology, expertise, pricing and flexibility."
