Printed Thin-Film Solar Panels Manufacturer Collaborates with K+K Solar

International Solar Electric Technology, Inc. (ISET), a manufacturer of printed thinfilm CIGS solar panels, has entered into a joint collaboration for technology commercialization and advanced development with K&K Solar Co., Ltd. and Yeungnam University of Korea.

ISET has developed cost-effective methods of photovoltaic (PV) module production to increase solar energy ’s affordability and global competitiveness with conventional energy sources.

Dr. Vijay K. Kapur, ISET’s CEO and President, hailed this collaboration as a “ground -breaking opportunity to combine ISET’s exp erience dev eloping new solar technologies with Korea’s superior knowledge of high volume manufacturing.” He added that “th e capabilities acquired in this collaboration will set a new course for global deployment of cost-efficient production lines and for installation of affordable photovoltaic systems.”

Along with Dr. Kapur, Mr. Young-Sik Kim, President of K&K Solar, Dr. Jae Hak Jung, Director of the Regional Innovation Center for Sola r Cell & Module, and Dr. Chinho Park, Director of the Institute for Solar Energy Research and the Solar Cell Materials and Process R&D Workforce Cultivation Program, signed a Memorandum of Und erstanding at ISET’s facility in Chatsworth, CA on Friday, February 11, 2011.

ISET currently operates its pilot production line for thin-film CIGS modules in a facility that will house an expanded production capacity of 30 MW/Yr, generating over 125 new jobs and providing competitively - priced PV products to local and international markets.
