FUJIFILM Dimatix Introduces MEMS-Based Cartridge Printheads for Sequential Production Printing

FUJIFILM Dimatix, a company that manufactures industrial inkjet printheads, systems and components, released the DMP-5005, which utilizes the Dimatix Materials Cartridge 16-jet printhead for initial production with convenient scale-up to D-Class printheads capable of bulk production for more complicated applications.

The D-Class printheads feature 128 jets that can be addressed individually and are developed based on silicon MEMS technology very similar to Dimatix printheads, thus allowing direct transfer of findings between printheads.

The DMP-5005 is a non-contact, large format, fluid deposition equipment with a capability of jetting various fluid types with the help of the Fujifilm Dimatix 16-jet, user-fillable cartridges of 1 or 10 pl for process and product development and up to five 128-jet, 1 or 10 pl printheads that operate sequentially using up to five different types of functional fluids. The new DMP-5005 offers 500 x 500 mm printable area and delivers a repeatability and positional accuracy of ± 1 ìm and ± 5 ìm respectively.

The CEO and President of Fujifilm Dimatix, Martin Schoeppler, stated that the DMP-5005 adds to the complete range of inkjet-based, non-contact systems to meet challenging and complicated materials deposition systems. He added that the DMP-5005 allows R&D process with cheap, user-fillable cartridges to complete manufacturing using industrial grade, performance based printheads.
