Exova Reports BTU Values for Nano Labs’ Nanotech Gasoline

Nano Labs Corp. is pleased to report on Exova’s BTU test results of the Company’s proprietary Nanotech Gasoline (NG).

As previously reported on September 24, 2013, the Nanotech Gasoline (NG) combines 60% commercial grade gasoline with 40% ordinary drinking water, plus the Company’s proprietary nanotechnology.

Exova performed the ASTM D-240, the Standard Test Method for Heat of Combustion, using a Parr Calorimeter. The heat of combustion, as determined by this test method, is designated as one of the chemical and physical requirements of both commercial and military turbine fuels and aviation gasolines.

Exova reported BTU values of 35,659 kJ/kg for Nano Lab’s NG, compared to ‘Regular’ gasoline at 41,134 kJ/kg.

“It is expected that the Nano Gasoline, since it contains water, would have a lower calorific value. This is reflected by the above results: by calculations it is only about 13.3% less,” states Dr. Castano, Chief Innovations Officer of Nano Labs. “As a general rule, the higher the calorific value, the better the mileage. However, we must understand that here we are talking about a novel gasoline-water emulsion, with a surprising high calorific value, comparable to regular gasoline”.

The main advantages of using emulsified fuels, instead of the pure fuel itself, are environmental and economic. As one of the different solutions to the problem of world pollution, emulsion fuel technology has received close attention because it may provide better combustion and would contribute to a reduction in emissions. There are also great expectations that it would lead to a reduction in fossil fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions on a global level, eventually contributing to providing a final solution to environmental problems, such as effluent gas. It is an established fact that water in the emulsion fuels is shown to improve combustion efficiency and contribute to emission reduction.”

“We are very pleased with the favorable evidence the team is building on our Nano Gasoline,” states Mr. Chavarria, President of Nano Labs. “We are continuing to run a full suite of ASTM tests against commercial grade gasoline, creating a direct, side-by-side comparison. Again, I stress, it is important to note that we are at the development stage here with a disruptive technology but we are extremely encouraged by these results. We are continuing to work with select partners to continue testing and further our discussions for NG’s commercialization.”
