Cambridge NanoTech
today announced that its founder and CEO, Dr. Jill S. Becker, is being honored
by Mass High Tech at their Women to Watch gala on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at
the Charles Hotel in Boston, MA.
Dr. Becker was selected as one of 10 "Women to Watch" in 2009,
out of over 100 nominees, by the publication and an advisory panel of leading
academic and business professionals. The women being honored "exemplify
the best and brightest among women at the highest level of technology businesses
in New England," according to the Mass High Tech announcement.
"It's a privilege to be able to live and work in New England, harnessing
and cultivating what I believe are the most talented scientific, technological,
and entrepreneurial minds in the world," said Dr. Becker. "Our resources
here, both academic and commercial, enable and encourage innovation well above
the norm."
Dr. Becker established and self-funded her dynamic, Cambridge-based nanotechnology
company in 2003, driven by an unwavering desire to bring greater awareness of
atomic layer deposition (ALD) to the marketplace, and to innovate new ways to
use her science to help others succeed in their endeavors. Her business model
is unique—in addition to building ALD equipment, she also uses the equipment
to advance this science personally, by conducting breakthrough chemical research
in-house with a highly skilled staff of Ph.D. scientists. An expert in her field,
Dr. Becker cultivated her knowledge and enthusiasm for ALD at Harvard's
prestigious Gordon Lab. She continues to work diligently to balance her professional
life as the CEO of a startup technology company with her uncompromising commitment
to raising her young family.
Mass High Tech is a leading New England technology journal. This is the publication's
sixth year honoring women in business through its Women to Watch program.
