Nanotechnology Company Appooints UCLA Chancellor Emeritus Appointed to Board of Directors

NanoPacific Holdings, Inc. (NPH), a privately held research and development company based in Los Angeles, California focused on commercializing its unique patented nanotechnology portfolio which it has exclusively licensed from UCLA, and the Regents of the University of California, announces the appointment of Albert Carnesale, Ph.D., Chancellor Emeritus and Professor of Public Policy and Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to its Board of Directors.

Currently, Dr. Carnesale’s research and teaching focus on public policy issues. He is the author or co-author of six books and more than 100 articles on national security strategy, arms control, nuclear proliferation and domestic and international energy issues. Furthermore, he chairs three committees of the National Academies: the Committee on Conventional Prompt Global Strike Capability, the Committee on Nuclear Forensics, and the Committee on America’s Climate Choices. Dr. Carnesale is also a member of the FBI Director’s Advisory Board on National Security and Higher Education; the Mission Committees of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Los Alamos National Laboratory; the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Terrorism, Proliferation and Weapons of Mass Destruction; the Board of Directors of Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs; and the Advisory Board of the RAND Corporation’s Center for Global Risk and Security.

Dr. Carnesale previously served as the UCLA Chancellor from 1997-2006 and was responsible for leading all aspects of the University’s mission of education, research and service, managing an annual budget of $4.0 billion, and serving as the principal leader and spokesman of UCLA. Prior to joining UCLA, he served at Harvard University for 23 years and was a Lucius N. Littauer Professor of Public Policy and Administration, Dean of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, and Provost of the University. Dr. Carnesale frequently consulted on national security matters for U.S. Government agencies and testified on various matters before Congress. Dr. Carnesale holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
