Angstron Materials
Inc., has introduced a new high quality graphene oxide product. The world’s
largest producer of nano graphene platelets (NGPs), Angstron’s new graphene
oxide material is available in a 0.5 percent water or solvent dispersion for
processing flexibility. The single layer graphene, with a thickness that is
50,000 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair (17 microns), is the
thinnest, toughest material known.
The new graphene oxide product is available in large quantities, eliminating
the need for companies and research facilities to produce their own graphene
in-house – a process that can be costly and time-consuming. Angstron’s
efficient manufacturing process also significantly reduces material costs for
customers.
Angstron’s 0.34 – 1.0 nanometers thick single layer graphene oxide
is nearly transparent at visible light wave making the material especially suited
to applications for transparent coatings. The advanced materials manufacturer’s
graphene oxide product can be used to significantly improve the thermal, electrical
and mechanical properties of polymers and composites. The graphene oxide product
also enhances energy and power density in batteries and supercapacitors for
higher charge storage capacity. From design of experiment to master batches,
Angstron’s state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and technical team can
help companies develop and functionalize graphene-enabled products while reducing
costs and time to market.
The new graphene oxide product’s average X, Y dimensions based on light
scattering is 530nm. Element analysis results show oxygen content up to 46 percent.
Angstron stocks the new graphene product in a wide range of quantities and is
able to provide next day delivery.
Angstron’s co-founder Dr. Bor Jang, began studying graphene in 2000 and
submitted the world’s first patent for single layer graphene in 2002 and
the first patent on graphene reinforced metal, glass, carbon and ceramic-matrix
composites and single layer graphene-reinforced polymer composites. Angstron
and its sister company Nanotek continue to develop and patent methods to produce
and functionalize graphene and have patents pending and issued for applications
that focus on batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells and composites.
Angstron Materials offers a variety of graphene materials in sizes ranging
from nano to micron in the x, y and z axis. These advanced materials are collectively
referred to as nano graphene platelets (NGPs). NGPs offer improved material
performance and superior mechanical, thermal, barrier and electrical conductivity
properties. As a result, Angstron is able to work with companies to functionalize
graphene for specific applications that include batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors,
light weight structural components as well as electromagnetic interference (EMI),
radio frequency interference (RFI), electrostatic discharge (ESD), lightning
strike and other functional and structural composite applications. Angstron
uses its research and development expertise to partner with customers throughout
the commercialization process, reducing time and costs while improving performance.
NGPs are surface functionalizable for polymer and common solvent applications
and can offer loadings of up to 40 percent weight for a variety of applications.
Angstron combines real world technology to create next generation products in
the aerospace, automotive, energy, marine, construction, electronics, medical,
military and telecommunications markets.
