Nano-scale Flash Chips for Data Warehousing

Texas Memory Systems has opted for Toshiba’s advanced 32nm SLC Flash chips to be applied in its storage devices. The chips will allow the company to reduce overall costs of its RamSan-630 by 15%.

The 32nm SLC Flash chips delivered by Toshiba are nano-sized and high density ones, and can be incorporated with the current editions of RamSan-630. The technology will allow the company to reduce component count while retaining the memory density in the RamSan-630 thus reducing costs to the end-user.

The RamSan-630 is a thick, SLC NAND Flash-based storage system. The product is mounted on a rack that delivers 10terabytes of memory that can be shared through a network in an individual 3U package using only 500W power. A single system can be used instead of multiple hard disk drives. It is offered with 8Gigabit/second Fibre Channel and Quad Data Rate InfiniBand connectivity. It is ideal for applications including computing, data storage, and batch processing, and supports Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
