A $4 million investment by New York State has further prepared Marcy NanoCenter for immediate development by the nanoelectonics industry. This state grant will initiate engineering work on infrastructure improvements at the shovel ready site, reducing the time necessary to complete an operational facility.
Following last year’s global site search, AMD CEO Hector Ruiz called the 300-acre upstate New York greenfield “a world class site.”
From shovel ready to operational
The $4 million in state funding will begin site and infrastructure improvements, including water and sewer upgrades, to reduce the lead time necessary for a developer.
Phase II funding of $14.5 million for road and other infrastructure improvements has been proposed.
“Marcy NanoCenter is ready for development as a result of the significant investment by New York State,” said Steven J. DiMeo, president of Mohawk Valley EDGE, the regional economic development agency that is leading the marketing efforts of the site. “Instead of completing off site improvements simultaneous to site development, our strategy is to conclude this work as soon as possible, thereby speeding up the development timeline.”

“As New York becomes a major hub of the nanoelectronics industry, we are committed to enhancing the strengths and resources that have made the Mohawk Valley a center of technological innovation,” said Assemblywoman RoAnn M. Destito (D-Rome).
