The Houston Technology Center (HTC), a business accelerator that assists Houston-based emerging technology companies, is hosting its Gulf Coast Innovation Conference, which will feature presentations from emerging technology companies in the energy, life sciences, nanotechnology, information technology and aerospace technology industries. The conference will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at the InterContinental Hotel Houston.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to bring some of the best and brightest minds in technology together for this unique, first-ever event,” said Walter Ulrich, president and chief executive officer of HTC. “The presenters bring with them a vast knowledge of their respective industries and are recognized as leaders in their fields, so attendees can expect a fascinating and lively program.”
The event’s keynote speaker is Leo Linbeck III, president and chief executive officer of Aquinas Companies, LLC. He will present the topic Entrepreneurship Life Cycle, Early Stage to Seed Capital and the Implications of Current Economic Trends. Emerging technologies from twelve Gulf Coast academic and research institutions will be featured during the conference, and the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (TETF) awards will be announced as well.
The TETF, created by the Texas Legislature at the urging of Governor Rick Perry, provides Texas with an unparalleled advantage by expediting the development and commercialization of new technologies, and by recruiting the best research talent in the world. Matching and commercialization funds, coupled with additional federal and outside investments mean new technology is emerging in Texas. A networking cocktail reception will follow the conference.
