Vishay Announces Thin Film Chip Resistors in New Case Sizes

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that it has extended its MC AT series of professional thin film chip resistors to include devices in the 0402, 0603, 0805, and 1206 case sizes.

In addition, a new Precision version of the series with lower TCR and tolerances has been released.

An increasing number of electronic designs require components that can withstand the effects of high temperature and humidity, which can affect device stability and performance. Vishay's MC AT professional and precision resistors are designed to deliver stable performance in such applications.

The new Professional series devices released today feature high-temperature performance to 175 deg. C for 1,000 hours and high power ratings of 400 mW at an 85 deg. C ambient temperature. Their high-temperature capability and high power ratings allow designers to use the MC AT resistors in harsh and high-temperature environments without compromising electrical performance and reliability. The devices likewise support both designers utilizing the full power capability of the MC AT and those bound to safety margins for the benefit of improved stability. The MC AT also features a superior high pulse load capability compared to typical resistors in the same case sizes. For example, the 1206-size MC AT device features ESD robustness to 2000 V (human body model).

With excellent resistivity to moisture, verified under the severe conditions of 85 deg. C and 85 % RH for 1,000 hours, all MC AT devices are optimized to provide high reliability in harsh environments.

The Precision series offers low TCRs down to 15 ppm/K and tight tolerances of 0.1 %, while both new series feature an extended resistance range down to 47 ohms.

In addition to AEC-Q200 compliance, the MC AT series is CECC approved. CECC approval ensures that MC AT resistors meet a set of demanding and sophisticated short-term and long-term performance requirements as defined by EN 140401-801. Compliance with these requirements is verified through periodic audits by accredited certification bodies.

Samples and production quantities of the new resistors are available now, with lead times of five to six weeks for larger orders.
