Berkeley Design Automation, MunEDA Combine Solution to Advance Nanometer IC Analysis

Berkeley Design Automation, Inc., provider of the Analog FastSPICE™ unified circuit verification platform (AFS Platform), and MunEDA™, provider of the circuit analysis and sizing software WiCkeD™, today announced validation of the interoperability of their products to accelerate the analysis and optimization of analog, RF and mixed-signal circuits by 5x-50x.

The Analog FastSPICE Platform (AFS Platform) is the industry’s only unified circuit verification platform for analog, mixed-signal, and RF design. It always delivers true SPICE accurate results, 5x-10x higher performance than traditional SPICE on a single core, >10 million-element capacity, and the industry’s only comprehensive device noise analysis. For circuit characterization applications, the AFS Platform delivers up to 50x higher performance than traditional SPICE on a single multi-core computer. The AFS Platform includes licenses for AFS Nano SPICE simulation, AFS circuit simulation, AFS Co-Simulation, AFS Transient Noise Analysis, and AFS RF Analysis.

MunEDA WiCkeD is a tool suite for analysis, sizing and modeling of circuits. It covers a wide range of topics in interactive and automatic specification-driven circuit design, including design centering, circuit sizing for performance and yield, and statistical circuit analysis. Key benefits are reduced turnaround time of porting IP between process technologies, optimized circuit performance and a reduced risk of design failures. It is used by circuit designers for memory designs, full-custom digital designs, RF, libraries and A/MS designs.

"Fast and true SPICE accurate simulation is a key success factor for automated circuit design," said Michael Pronath, VP of products & solutions at MunEDA. "The combination of the AFS Platform and WiCkeD enables automatic compensation for process variations and parasitic influences, as well as the overall reduction of power consumption and noise in nanometer AMS/RF circuits that have little voltage headroom."

"The combination of the AFS Platform with MunEDA’s circuit analysis and optimization tools brings great benefit to our mutual customers," said Ravi Subramanian, president and CEO of Berkeley Design Automation. "Analog/RF designers using the AFS Platform with MunEDA optimization tools will get nanometer SPICE accurate results with up to 50x faster turnaround time."
