Forza Silicon has chosen the Analog FastSPICE (AFS) Platform from Berkeley Design Automation for block-level characterization and full-circuit verification.
Daniel Van Blerkom, the CTO at Forza, explained that the reason for choosing AFS was its capability to support the verification of Forza’s CMOS image sensor ICs with high accuracy. He added that AFS provided block level characterization results which were 20 times faster than conventional SPICE post-layout characterization results.
AFS platform enjoys the distinction of being the only unified verification platform for RF, nanometer, mixed signal and custom digital circuits. The AFS platform provides an accuracy that is 5 to 10 times greater than that provided by other SPICE circuit simulator. Other advantages that the AFS provides are ability to support more than 10 components and most accurate device noise analysis. The platform is equipped with sophisticated algorithms and numerical analysis that help in solving original device equations and complete circuit matrix devoid of any approximations. It is licensed to perform AFS Nano SPICE simulation, AFS Transient Noise Analysis and AFS Co-Simulation.
According to the CEO of Berkeley, Forza choosing the AFS platform reiterates the effectiveness of the platform in nanometer circuit verification.
