Gary graduated from the University of Manchester with a first-class honours degree in Geochemistry and a Masters in Earth Sciences. After working in the Australian mining industry, Gary decided to hang up his geology boots and turn his hand to writing.

When he isn't developing topical and informative content, Gary can usually be found playing his beloved guitar, or watching Aston Villa FC snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM) are normally coated with gold to improve reflection of light. Researchers at JILA, the joint institute of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Colorado Boulder, stripped off the gold coating from the probe and found that stability and precision of measurements carried out in a liquid improved ten-fold. Sirnaomics has received yet another NIH SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) grant for its scar-less wound healing small interfering RNA (siRNA) solution, STP705. The funding is expected to aid in quicker completion of the IND enabling studies of this nanoparticle-based siRNA product. Since its inception in 2007, Sirnaomics has received five NIH SIBR grants as well as other government grants.
