Nano Battery with G-Force for Military Applications

mPhase Technologies has been in discussions with a military applications vendor to modify its battery and reserve battery technology to enable an energy source activated by G-force to deliver power in the latest weapons systems.

The company has tested a single-cell reserve battery for the army, where the battery was powered by a projectile launch, fired from the tank, at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.

The company has been working with Picatinny Arsenal to explore potential applications of its Smart NanoBattery in an endeavor to fuel smart munitions. Towards this end, a three  year CRADA (Cooperative Research and Development Agreement) contract was signed with the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC) at Picatinny, New Jersey.

Earlier trials with Picatinny had revealed that the SmartBattery was resistant to shock, vibration and high speeds of more than 30,000 G-forces. The trials involved mock firing from an air-gun and live firing of projectiles from a tank and revealed that the power cell nanostructure  could tolerate harsh military environments.
