Nuclear Blast Protection With Nanotechnology Enhanced Geodesic Domes

The Advanced Nanotechnology blog has conducted a thought experiment on how nanotechnology enhanced geodesic domes may be used to withstand nuclear blasts.

The highly speculative proposal covers major cities, such as Manhattan, with a massive geodesic dome made from super strong materials made using nanotechnology enhanced materials. The domes would have the primary objective of protecting the city from airborne nuclear missiles but they would have secondary benefits as well. They could also control pollution levels and climate under the dome.

The main sturcture of the dome would be made from super reinforced concrete with specially formulated glass panels that would allow light through yet be super strong.
