Synopsys Honored with TSMC Partner of the Year Award for Interface IP and Joint Development of 16-nm FinFET Plus Design Infrastructure

Synopsys, Inc., a global leader providing software, IP and services used to accelerate innovation in chips and electronic systems, today announced that TSMC is recognizing Synopsys with their "2014 Partner of the Year" award in the areas of: Interface IP and Joint Development of 16-nm FinFET Plus Design Infrastructure.

Synopsys and TSMC have been collaborating for more than 15 years, most recently to accelerate the adoption of FinFET technology for high-performance and power-efficient system-on-chips (SoCs) by optimizing the Synopsys IP, design tools, and reference flows needed for these designs. This is the fifth consecutive year Synopsys has received both IP and electronic design automation (EDA) accolades from TSMC.

Highlights:

  • TSMC selects Synopsys as its "Partner of the Year" for interface IP and tool enablement for the 5th consecutive year
  • The Interface IP Partner of the Year award selection criteria include customer feedback, TSMC9000 compliance, number of customer tapeouts and technical support excellence
  • Synopsys' portfolio of silicon-proven DesignWare® Interface IP including USB, PCI Express®, DDR, MIPI®, HDMI and Ethernet is now available in a wide range of TSMC processes
  • Synopsys' digital and custom implementation tools from the Galaxy™ Design Platform are broadly certified for 16-nanometer (nm) FinFET Plus, including reference flows

"These awards recognize Synopsys' excellence in delivering silicon-proven FinFET design implementation tools and IP," said Suk Lee, TSMC senior director of the Design Infrastructure Marketing Division. "Synopsys' commitment to providing our mutual customers with high-quality IP and comprehensive tools helps them create differentiated products quickly using TSMC's process technologies, speeding their time to volume production."

"TSMC and Synopsys share a common goal of providing designers with proven EDA tools, methodologies and IP required for the development of sophisticated SoCs in TSMC's advanced process technologies," said Glenn Dukes, vice president of Strategic Alliances and Professional Services at Synopsys. "As TSMC's trusted partner for more than 15 years, these awards recognize the quality and breadth of our IP and advanced FinFET design solutions that help designers achieve their design goals and accelerate their time to market."
