Two Laboratory on a Chip Patents Granted To NVE

NVE Corporation announced today that it has been notified by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office of the expected grant of two patents relating to "laboratory-on-a-chip" technology.

The company has been notified that patent number 7,235,969, titled "Thin-Film Structure Magnetizable Bead Detector," will issue today and that patent number 7,238,539, titled "Magnetizable Bead Detector," will issue July 3, 2007.

In proposed laboratory-on-a-chip systems, magnetic biological marker nano-beads adhere to an immobilization surface when a targeted biological agent is present. Spintronic biosensors detect magnetic perturbations from the nano-beads to detect and quantify the presence of very low levels of biological or chemical materials.

The grants will bring NVE's U.S. patent total to 44. The company has more than 100 patents worldwide issued, pending, or licensed from others. Links to the new patent and NVE's other U.S.patents can be found at the "About NVE" section of the company's Website.
