How Microbes May Be Used in the Production of Biosynthetics

EU-funded scientists in Germany and the US have gained insight into bacterial metabolism that greatly advances our understanding of how these microbes may be used in the production of biosynthetics. The researchers used computer models to calculate the genetic changes necessary to make the Pseudomonas putida bacterium increase its production of natural synthetics, and laboratory experiments validated their findings.
