Asia Pacific Governments Invest In Nano Research - News Item

Asia-Pacific region governments are committing to nanotechnology with investments in a range of research centres.

Malaysia has recently opened its joint venture InventQjaya Sdn Bhd (IQJ) research laboratory. The Nano Sci-Tech Industrial Park in Xi’an, China has only just opened but already has 20 nano and superconductor research projects.

Singapore has it's Biopolis research park which is focussed on developing bio and nanotech businesses. Biopolis is also home to the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology.

The two major Japanese government backed nanotechnology laboratories, the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) and National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) have founded a company to develop and supply automotive and electronic materials. The company is known as The Materials Design Technology Laboratory.

Taiwan is increasing international nanotechnology collaboration via the National Science Council (NSC) and attracting billions of dollars in international investments for nanotechnology.
