Background

Richard Gillard, has a PhD in nanotechnology, specifically molecular self-assembly. Richard read chemistry at the University of Birmingham spending one year at the University of Montpellier in France. He remained at Birmingham researching nanotechnology under the supervision of Professor Fraser Stoddart FRS obtaining his PhD in 1997. During his PhD, Richard published a number of papers in leading scientific journals.

Richard joined Elkington and Fife in 1997 and became a partner in 2004 having qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2001 and a European Patent Attorney in 2002. Richard works in a wide range of disciplines, including nanotechnology. For example, Richard has worked on applications from nanoparticles to dendrimers to semiconducting nanocrystals. Richard has considerable experience of European prosecution, including oral proceedings.

BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and a PhD in nanotechnology, specifically molecular self-assembly, from the University of Birmingham UK.

Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney.
