World's First Functional 22nm CMOS SRAM Cells Made Using EUV Lithography

Today, IMEC presented the world's first functional 22nm CMOS SRAM cells made using EUV lithography. The 0.099µm² SRAM cells are made with FinFETs and have both the contact and metal1 layer printed using ASML's full field extreme ultraviolet (EUV) Alpha Demo Tool (ADT).

Improving Performance of Nanotubes in Solar Cells that Produce Hydrogen Gas from Water

A research team from Northeastern University and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has discovered, serendipitously, that a residue of a process used to build arrays of titania nanotubes-a residue that wasn't even noticed before this-plays an important role in improving the performance of the nanotubes in solar cells that produce hydrogen gas from water.

(Huaguang) of China has qualified Veeco's gallium nitride (GaN) and arsenic phosphide (AsP) metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) systems for high volume production of red and blue high-brightness light emitting diodes (HB-LEDs).
