Nanotechnology-based Coatings for Defense Applications

Industrial Nanotech has completed clinical tests and analysis of the Nansulate for military ships and vehicles applications. The range of corrosion-resistant coatings comprising a material based on nanotechnology, which offers thermal insulation, and resistant to mold, fire, and chemicals, are packaged in an eco-friendly and water-based formulation.

Stuart Burchill, chief executive officer, said that nuclear fueled submarines and ships as well as the inside walls of military tanks and carriers are areas where the technology is  applicable.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg has used this technology in pipe insulation, the U.S. Navy at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Pearl Harbor Naval Base in lead encasing in buildings, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in insulation and corrosion monitoring of metal dock constructions, and by the Naval Business Center in Philadelphia in pipe insulation and corrosion management.
