Advanced Diamond Technologies (ADT), a company that manufactures diamond films for electronic, medical, and industrial product systems, has bagged the R&D 100 Award for a third time.
The company received the award for an integrated RF MEMS switch/CMOS device. According to the R&D Magazine, the integrated RF MEMS switch/CMOS device is considered one of the most technologically important products released into the market.
R&D Magazine's editorial director, Rita Peters, stated that the R&D 100 Awards recognizes the recent technological developments that solve scientific, societal or business issues faced by current users and for users in the future. These integrated RF MEMS switch/CMOS devices can be used in phased-array radar as well as in mobile communication applications.
ADT’s lead scientist, Hongjun Zeng, stated that the UNCD technology of ADT exhibits enhanced reliability while maintaining CMOS-compatibility over the entire process flow, displays minimal insertion loss, and sustains more than ten billion continuous switching cycles. Zeng added that this innovation results in the advancement of cell phone technology with rapid data transfer and cost-effective manufacture by scaling mass- production.
ADT has received financial support from Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and contributions from other co-awardees.
