Veeco Instruments, a company specializing in hard disk drives, solar cells, LEDs and other devices, declared that Hangzhou Silan Azure, a China-based LED manufacturer, has placed an order for Veeco's TurboDisc K465i MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) systems. Silan Azure will use these advanced systems to increase its production capacity for high brightness light emitting diodes in green and blue colors.
Hangzhou Silan Azure’s President, Zhongyong Jiang stated that the company decided to expand its production capacity in view of increasing demand for LEDs in outdoor display, backlighting, and general illumination applications. Jiang added that after assessing a number of suppliers, the company selected Veeco’s MOCVD tools as the existing K465i MOCVD systems in the company’s facility are cost-effective and offer consistent performance. In addition, Veeco provides good field support, which also proved significant in making this decision.
The Executive Vice President of Veeco Process Equipment, William Miller, Ph.D stated that the company is happy that Silan Azure, who happens to be one of the top LED manufacturers in China, has selected Veeco’s K465i MOCVD systems to expand its production capacity. Miller added that Veeco is looking forward to strengthen this business relationship with Silan Azure.

A joint venture of Silan Microelectronics, Hangzhou Silan Azure deals in the design, development, and distribution of high brightness light emitting diodes, epitaxial wafers and chips.
