Mediso Preclinical nanoScan Imaging System Installed at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory

Mediso USA is proud to announce the tenth site of integrated preclinical multimodality imagers of the nanoScan Family in North America, at the preeminent Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). The nanoScan systems are developed and manufactured by Mediso Ltd., Hungary. Illes Muller, managing partner of Mediso USA commented: "We started our operations two years ago serving and supporting the professional and academic users in North America.

The installation of a nanoScan PET(122S)/CT at CSHL brings a very important milestone for us. Six out of our ten nanoScan sites has a preclinical PET, either combined with CT or MRI".

The constant technological innovation makes the Mediso nanoScan family the first-line choice for small animal imaging. The PET(122S) subsystem is the improved version of the 16 cm wide bore preclinical PET system. The PET ring is the largest among currently available preclinical PET/CT imagers. The new acquisition electronics delivers increased count-rate tolerance and improved time resolution. The proprietary Tera-Tomo 3D PET reconstruction algorithm results in a uniform imaging resolution of ≤0.8mm even at 3cm off the radial center. Combined with high 8% sensitivity the PET technology enables the detection of femtomolar quantities of proteins per milligram of tissue with high resolution.

Scott Lyons, Research Assistant Professor at CSHL stated: "Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is pursuing new ways to treat cancer and imaging technology helps our researchers visualize the effects of new cancer therapies dynamically over time. We look forward to deploying the new nanoScan PET/CT system as one of the tools for our research."

About Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory

Celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2015, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has shaped contemporary biomedical research and education with programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology and quantitative biology. Home to eight Nobel Prize winners, the private, not-for-profit Laboratory is more than 600 researchers and technicians strong. The Meetings & Courses Program hosts more than 12,000 scientists from around the world each year on its campuses in Long Island and in Suzhou, China. The Laboratory's education arm also includes an academic publishing house, a graduate school and programs for middle and high school students and teachers.
