Veeco Wins Contract to Supply Two Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition Systems

Veeco Instruments Inc., announced today that two recently purchased TurboDisc(R) E450(TM) As/P Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) Systems are being used by Xiamen Sanan OptoElectronics of Xiamen, China to expand their capacity of red, yellow and orange (ROY) high brightness light emitting diodes (HB-LEDs).

Mr. Kechuang Lin, General Manger of Sanan, commented, "The addition of Veeco's high productivity E450 MOCVD systems to our manufacturing facility in Xiamen, China ensures that we can continue to increase output of our market-leading ROY HB-LEDs. We are seeing increased demand for these LEDs in such applications as signs and displays."

Piero Sferlazzo, Ph.D., Vice President, General Manager of Veeco's MOCVD Operations commented, "Sanan's use of our TurboDisc E450 Systems for its capacity expansion is further confirmation that this production-proven system and its recently introduced successor, the E475, are the industry's 'tools of choice' for high volume production of ROY HB-LED devices."
