Minatec Ideas Laboratory Established To Study Micro and Nano-Technologies - News Item

CEA, STMicroelectronics and the R&D centre of France Telecom have announced the the creation of the Minatec Ideas Laboratory, a joint laboratory to study advances in micro and nano-technologies. It will cover initial developments all the way through to evaluation of consumer interest in new products.

The products they will focus on are devices with embedded software for intercommunication and environmental interaction. Such devices exist in mobile telephones and portable computers but laboratory will examine moving the technology into new applications like medicines, vehicles, clothes and household appliances.
