Developer of NanoNose has Technology that can Screen Individuals for Swine Flu

Developer of the NanoNose, the next generation in electronic nose detection devices, has technology that can screen individuals for Swine Flu and provide instant results.

One of the biggest obstacles to containing this pandemic, QualSec CEO J. E. Hand notes, is that “We are fighting today's pandemic with the same tools we had 100 years ago. The critical challenge in preventing or containing a pandemic outbreak is early, rapid, and mobile screening. Historically, the viruses which cause such suffering and mass death have outpaced our ability to detect and act.”

According to recent reports in The Independent, a new worldwide pandemic is on its way, an event which could rival the Black Plague and “kill 50 million people and wreak massive disruption around the globe.” Former Surgeons General Dr. C. Everett Koop and Dr. David Satcher describe the threat as imminent. "The pattern makes you believe the likelihood of a pandemic - (probably) avian flu - is very real," Satcher said. "You have to believe it's around the corner somewhere."

“When one is ill with flu, exhaled breath contains identifiable volatile organics compounds which our technology platform is designed to detect.” stated CEO Hand. “The results are processed immediately, and would allow for rapid and reliable screening of travelers at airports immigration checkpoints as well as the general population.”

Hand continues, “We believe that the present unfortunate outbreak of Swine Flu will drive investment in this vital field, and we believe we are poised to be the leader in this detection technology.”

Today we find ourselves confronting the swine flu, tomorrow it very well could be SARS, Avian flu or a host of other potentially devastating diseases that will make today’s fears seem benign.
