Silver Markets for Photovoltaics

Research and Markets, the leading source for international market research and market data, has announced the addition of the "Silver Markets for Photovoltaics" report to their offering.

At present, the vast majority of silver used in PV devices is for the top electrodes of crystalline silicon (c-Si) PV cells. This is a growth market in itself, but as thin-film PV (TFPV) technologies are taking off, new opportunities for selling silver into the PV sector are also opening up. It is frequently used for electrodes in amorphous silicon solar panels too as well as for its reflective properties combined with its conductivity.

This major goal of this report is to analyze and quantify the opportunities that are emerging for silver suppliers as a result of growth in the PV industry as a whole, with particular attention on TFPV. The report focuses on all silver materials including silver inks and pastes and various hybrid materials that use silver; materials such as transparent conductive silver-containing composites. The report begins with a review of the state of the PV industry and then analyzes the market for silver in each of the major PV sectors. Finally, the report quantifies the opportunities for silver in the PV space through an eight-year forecast.
