SVTC Technologies Forms Partnership with Advantec

SVTC Technologies, the leading commercialization service provider for new, emerging silicon-based technologies in areas such as CMOS, MEMS, photovoltaics and other related nanotechnologies, has formed a partnership with Advantec Co. Ltd. to supply SVTC test wafers and analytical services to Greater Asia.

Advantec, a leading manufacturing and sourcing company in the semiconductor industry, will serve as SVTC's exclusive distributor in Japan, China and Taiwan. SVTC will produce top-quality blanket and patterned test wafers for material and equipment suppliers as well as advanced test wafers for chip-makers working at geometries as small as 22 nm. In addition, SVTC Analytical Services will offer leading-edge microscopy, materials analysis and other analytical services directly to the region for the first time.

"The current supply chain for test wafers and wafer services in East Asia is characterized by an uncoordinated mix of chip-makers and brokers, which results in an inconsistent quality in wafers and wafer services," said Don Kemp, VP of Operations for SVTC. "Our successful history and relationship with Advantec will provide customers in Asia with the highest quality test wafers and services along with unimpeded access to us as a manufacturer."

"We are pleased to be working with SVTC to deliver high-quality wafers and analytical services to the markets we serve," said Tzu-Chin Lin, president of Advantiv Technologies, Inc., Advantec's subsidiary in the U.S. "We plan to increase the proportion of SVTC wafers in our inventory , knowing that our customers will receive the best products available in the industry."

SVTC has provided test wafers for the Japanese market successfully for 10 years through Advantec after its other markets began expanding. "We started seeing a lot of growth with our customers outside of Japan, especially in Taiwan and China," said Frank Tolic, business development manager for SVTC Wafer Services. "We began working with Advantec, and they gave us inroads throughout all of Asia. Now through our partnership, anyone in the region can secure reliable SVTC wafers and services."

"Advantec's market knowledge and sales expertise throughout Asia provides this region fast access to our full range of test and analytical services - performed by engineers, for engineers," said Julian Searle, business development manager for SVTC Analytical Services. "Our relationship with Advantec will drive further growth for our services in these rapidly expanding markets."

SVTC Technologies provides development and commercialization services for innovative semiconductor process-based technologies and products, cost-effectively and in an IP-secure manner. Through facilities in San Jose, California, and Austin, Texas, SVTC serves customers in rapidly growing markets such as novel memory, novel transistors, logic, MEMS, biotechnology, image sensors and photovoltaics. SVTC offers a suite of leading-edge equipment and services, including full-scale 8-inch and 12-inch process capabilities, advanced CMOS and non-CMOS equipment, analytical services, development support tools and commercialization services. SVTC's investors include Oak Hill Capital Partners, Tallwood Venture Capital and the company's management and employees. SVTC Technologies is an equal opportunity employer.
